Happy Easter!

Ever since K was a baby, we've politely asked the Easter Bunny not to make an appearance at our house. Neither of us grew up with the Easter Bunny--our parents had made the same request--and we didn't feel it necessary for our children. I do, however, ALWAYS buy them a new Easter dress / shirt & tie. It has been very important to me. I think originally it came from always feeling so bad that I didn't even want to go to church when all the other little girls had brand new pretty dresses and I got to wear the same one that I'd been wearing every week to church for months. I don't ever want my kids to feel that. So, even when we were in school and had no money, I found gorgeous dresses at thrift stores or super dirt cheap sales or yard sales, but they always have had a new outfit.
This year is no exception. K has a new dress and both my boys have new shirts with matching ties. Yet, this year, I pondered what in the world this tradition has to do with Easter. I realized that it actually has a lot to do with it. New clothing is like a new beginning. With Easter and the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we are afforded a new beginning. We can repent. It is like being able to take off our old clothes and put on nice clean new ones. How grateful I am for my Savior. I know He lives. I know he died and was resurrected for you, me, and all mankind. I

Happy Easter everyone!

Your kids all look so nice in their new clothes. I love the link you made to us having a new beginning thanks to Jesus dying for us.

I love their new clothes. I hate to say that my kids NEED new clothes for Easter Sunday, but I do so it in the same light as you. There is just something about it....
I hope you had a wonderful Easter. I am so grateful for our Savior's resurrection and what it means to me.

Cute clothes. I love Easter when the kids dress up. It just feels like a different Sunday. And that is what I like because it is. I think it instills the remembrance that Easter is special. Bye. Jan

They look so great in their nice "new beginning" clothes. I like getting new dresses for the girls, too - but I haven't yet - because it's still too darn cold! So they'll have new "Spring" dresses - if and when it arrives. :)

The kids look great in those outfits, and the picture of the 3 of them together is priceless!

I know exactly how you feel. I, too, had to wear the same dress every Sunday when I was a kid during the year or two that my mom decided to "get back to church" for a while before changing her mind again.

Every Easter I love getting the kids new Easter clothes. Your analogy is perfect. My only wish is that I could find matching dresses for the girls AND me. I would love to match my girls on Easter. I wish I knew how to sew.

SO, SO, SO Cute! My little E loves K's dress! The boys look handsome as well!

My mother, at a young age, shared the same sentiments with me about new clothing to attend church in! I love the tradition; although it was a lot harder to accomplish here (reasonably priced) so Nana brought down the dresses when she visited! She saved the day!

I am so glad to hear you guys don't do Easter Bunny either. I was feeling a bit like a weirdo. You have a nice-looking family.... Lara, visiting from a link on another blog :)
